IN A SNAPSHOT

 

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, Plant Manager will be responsible for the strategic direction, leadership and overall administration of plant operations.

This position will efficiently oversee the development and direction of the management team to drive the growth of production, revenue and the quality of goods produced in the facility.  The Plant Manager will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with suppliers, vendors, departmental managers and ensuring the integration of strategic plans within the plant facility.

 

WHERE YOU WILL SPEND YOUR TIME

 

  • Manage production processes, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization of a food production facility with attention to food, facility, and employee safety and security for all shifts.
  • Oversee various departments such as Production (two shifts), Shipping & Receiving, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, etc.
  • Delegate tasks across subordinates, holding reports accountable for results.
  • Develop and implement new business strategies for creating or improving processes and procedures to improve performance.
  • Meet regularly with department leads and facilitate resolution of business or operational issues.
  • Responsible for the required staff levels to meet requirements of the facility.
  • Establish and manage the production schedule.
  • Direct and coordinate the diverse production workers within company policies and procedures.
  • Strong Team Building skills; Motivate, engage, sharing information and provide recognition of team members.
  • Perform management cycle audits.
  • Ensure that employees adhere to company policies and procedures, meat and government regulations with an emphasis on safety, sanitation, and quality.
  • Analyze and report on the plant’s daily, monthly and annual key performance indicators and industry trends.
  • Ensure daily reporting (i.e., maintenance down time, items produced, run efficiently).
  • Monitor financial performance to ensure the facility is meeting or exceeding budgetary commitments.
  • Responsible for problem solving as issues arise.
  • Ensure continued readiness for plant and food safety audits.
  • Assure inventory usage and ordering to support production capability.
  • Coordinate the execution of plant schedules based on sales requirements and plant capacity.
  • Lead and monitor production line tasks.
  • Perform continuous improvement review.
  • Ensure customer orders are being fulfilled on time and as scheduled.

 

 

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

 

  • Post Secondary Education; University Degree or College Diploma in a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience in a meat processing facility with proven leadership abilities.
  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on plant and business processes.
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal skills.
  • Experience in successful leading, coaching, motivating and development a team.
  • Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal/external challenges or obstacles.
  • Strong analytical thinking, planning, prioritization and execution skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks at once in fast-paced work environment with competing demands.
  • Knowledge of continuous flow product manufacturing.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in budgeting, capital planning, capacity planning and productivity pipeline projects.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CFIA, and other regulatory government regulations pertaining to employees and food production.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS and all other workplace H & S regulations.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective attention to details and a high degree of accuracy.
